Adrian Reed

Managing Director

Adrian Reed heads up Altium’s Cleantech and Renewable sector in the UK and is a leading figure in Altium’s Europe wide sector team.

He has extensive public and private transactional experience, providing lead advisory for both AIM and Full List clients and has advised on a wide range of public mergers and acquisitions (including hostile and recommended takeovers), fundraisings and disposals.

Adrian has also undertaken a wide range of private transactions including development capital fundraisings, private equity backed MBOs and a number of disposal processes.

Alessandro Soprano

Director

Prior to joining Altium, Alessandro acquired a wide range of experience in M&A transactions working for KPMG Corporate Finance, focusing on oil & gas components, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and FMCG industries.

Alessandro began his career in Fiat Group, and holds a master's degree in Business Administration from Ca’ Foscari University in Venice.

Alexander Grünwald

Managing Director

Alexander focuses on M&A transactions and the private equity industry. He has particular experience and expertise in the areas of internet, media, industrials and consumer goods. 

Prior to joining Altium Zurich in 2003, Alexander was co-founder and Managing Director of Marchfifteen, Austria's leading early stage VC. This came after several years as the Managing Director of the Austrian Branch of Chiquita P.G.D.

Alexander is a graduate of the Wirtschaftsuniversität Vienna and the Boston University. He holds a B.A. in Economics.

Alexander is a member of the firm's Executive Committee.

Axel Bauer

Axel holds a master's degree in Business Administration from University Passau. Before joining altium in 2011, he worked in Duff & Phelps' Corporate Finance Consulting business. Prior to this, Axel worked more than nine years at Linklaters/O&R where he set up and led the subsidiary O&R Corporate Finance as a Managing Director since 2000. Axel has worked on numerous transactions in the mid-market segment.

Ben Thorne

Managing Director

Throughout his career Ben has acted as adviser and broker to varied small and midcap clients. His expertise covers both primary and secondary market issues, reconstructions plus mergers and acquisitions, of both public and private companies. 

Practising first as a corporate lawyer for two years, Ben joined Kleinwort Benson in 1987 to work in corporate broking.

Between 2000-2002 he headed up the European Technology Investment Banking team for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. Ben joined Altium in September 2003.

Benoît Lenfant

Director

Benoit worked with Procter & Gamble, as controller, then with Bossard–Gemini Consulting (Cap Gemini Group) as a Senior Consultant. 

As telecom engineer, Benoit joined Arjil to develop business in the communications technology areas. He worked on several transactions in the IT and telecom sector with clients such as EADS, SIEMENS and Vivendi Universal. He has also developed expertise and knowledge in the industrial services, and the tourism and leisure sectors.

Benoit holds a Masters degree in Electronic and Telecom engineering from ESME-SUDRIA, a Master of Business Administration from HEC Business School (ISA), and is an alumnus of the Amos Tuck Business School (NH, USA).

Bertrand Dufournier

Managing Director

Bertrand joined Arjil-Groupe Altium in 2007 as Partner in Paris. 

He started his career at the end of the 80s in the City with Bankers Trust International M&A group. He then contributed to the launch of UBS Investment Banking operations in Paris in 1992 and joined the corporate finance teams of New York and London as Vice-President and Director respectively.

In 1998, he joined the M&A team of Calyon (formerly Credit Agricole Indosuez) as Executive Director in order to develop, on a pan-European basis, the advisory business in the food, beverage and retail industry. Bertrand speaks English fluently. Bertrand is an advisory board member of Mexel Industries, a specialty chemical company.

Bertrand graduated from Institut d'étude politiques of Paris. FSA General Rep. (1990), NASD Limited Registered Rep. (1995).

Carlo Dawan

Managing Director

Before joining Altium Capital in 2008, Carlo began his career in 1983 as Assistant to the CFO of Crippa & Berger S.p.A. (a large food company controlled by SOPAF, a private equity investor). He later became CFO of various other investments in connection with the fund. 

In 1990 Carlo became Investment Manager at SOPAF. Following this in 1993 he founded his own independent M&A advisory firm through the establishment of Dawan & Co, a boutique specialising in European mid-sized transactions.

Carlo holds a degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan.

Christian Wipf

Managing Director

Christian works across industries including paper, media, engineering, transportation, telecommunications and CATV. 

Prior to joining Altium in Zurich in 1989, he was part of Strategic Planning Associates (SPA) in London and Geneva.

Christian is a graduate of the University of St. Gallen and holds an M.A. in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University.

Christian is a member of the firm's Executive Committee.

Fernando Gómez

Director

Fernando has 10 years’ experience in corporate finance advice, covering M&A transactions, strategic analysis and project finance across a range of industries. These include healthcare, transport, retail, food and beverages, insurance, media, real estate, IT and education. 

Prior to joining Altium Capital, he worked with Hewlett Packard, Andersen Consulting and Alpha Corporate.

Fernando Gómez holds a double degree in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE E-3), Madrid.

Francesco Bedina

Head of European Cleantech and Renewables

Francesco Bedina joined Altium in 2010 as Head of European Cleantech and Renewables. Francesco previously spent 12 years with UBS as Head of European Renewables within the European Utilities Investment Banking team, with a particular focus upon Southern Europe and Germany.

Francesco brings a wealth of transactional experience, unique and extensive access to sector intelligence and a proven track-record of coordinating a pan-European renewable energy team having advised on over €100bn worth of M&A, equity, fixed income and strategic transactions at UBS.

Francesco has led a variety of IPOs in the renewable energy sector, including EDP Renovaveis and Terna Energy, and co-ordinated landmark M&A transactions, such as Enel's unsolicited tender offer on Endesa, the acquisition of Union Fenosa by Gas Natural and the IPO of Snam Rete Gas, the Italian regulated gas transportation business.

Gérald de Roquemaurel

Managing Director

Gérald joined ARJIL in January 2009 as Senior Partner and member of the board. 

Previously in his career he has been Vice Chairman and CEO of the Hachette Press Group, as well as CEO and Director of Publications Filipacchi, developing the group internationally.

In 1997, he was appointed Chairman, President and CEO of Hachette Filipacchi Medias and a member of the Executive and Strategic Committee of Lagardère SCA. At the end of 2006, he left the Lagardère Group and became a Managing Partner at Banque Jean-Philippe Hottinguer & Cie.

He holds a Masters degree in law and is a graduate from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, and an alumnus of Ecole Nationale d'Administration (70-72).

Gérald is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.

Georg Schultze

Director

Georg began his career in banking with positions at Merrill Lynch Europe Ltd., James Capel & Co. in London, and Rothschild GmbH in Frankfurt. He joined Apax Partners Corporate Finance in 1993. Georg is presently also on the board of Neue Privat Bank AG, Zürich and Ibis Media Fund.

Georg holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and completed his doctoral dissertation in Economics at the University of Mannheim.

Grant Harrison

Head of Public Company Business Development

Grant joined Altium from Lloyds Banking Group where he was instrumental in building an equity capital markets business. Whilst at Lloyds Grant and his team acted on 30 transactions over a two year period. 

Prior to Lloyds Grant worked at UBS and Panmure Gordon where he led a significant number of public and private transactions including: IPOs, follow-on fundraisings, balance sheet restructuring exercises and, mergers and acquisitions both in the UK and internationally. 

Grant's sector experience encompasses working with financial institutions and support services, travel and leisure and, technology issuers.

Originally, Grant qualified as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand where he practised corporate and banking law.

Ignacio Durán

Managing Director

Ignacio graduated in Economics and Business Administration from Universidad Complutense of Madrid, holds a MBA from the University of Houston and is Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Prior to joining Altium Capital he worked with Mercapital, S.A., a leading Spanish venture capital, and Andersen Corporate Finance, where he was involved in M&A deals in various sectors.

With around 20 years of experience in investment banking, Ignacio covers a number of sectors, currently focusing his efforts in the renewable energy space, infrastructure and healthcare. Ignacio has developed an extensive network of key contacts in these sectors, including entrepreneurs, large developers, specialised local and international financial investors.

Jacqueline Henry

Managing Director

Jacqueline Henry joined the Apax Partners group in 1979 and acquired a specialisation in strategy consulting, initiating and advising on M&A, corporate finance services and private placement. 

She has advised numerous clients involved in the distribution, services and pharmaceutical businesses and has been active in selling companies in the portfolio of Apax Ventures.

Graduate of HEC-JF business school and La Sorbonne in Psychology, with an advanced degree in accounting. She is a fluent English speaker.

Jean-Francois Court

Managing Director

Jean-François served 13 years in the tax policy department of the Ministry of Finance (as International Tax Counsel), and was then Chief of Staff of the Minister of Culture and Communication from 1986-1988. 

He then served 12 years in services, finance and insurance. This included terms as general manager for Bistro Romain Group, Europar Chairman, and Chairman of insurance companies Socapi and Serenis). He joined Arjil end of 1999.

Jean-Francois is a graduate in Letters and Economics; an alumnus of Institut d’études politiques de Paris and Ecole nationale d’Administration (1973), and a Master of Law, Harvard University (1978). Jean-François is fluent in English.

Keith Williams

Director

Keith Williams heads up Altium’s Financial Services sector in the UK.

He joined Altium in November 2010 from Deloitte, where he was a Director within the London Financial Services Corporate Finance Advisory practice. Keith has over 10 years of experience advising on a wide range of public and private transactions including IPOs, reverse transactions, mergers and acquisitions, MBO’s, hostile takeovers, public-to-privates and primary and secondary fund raisings. Prior to Deloitte, Keith was at Brewin Dolphin Securities for 6 years.

Keith qualified as an ACA with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Lindon Neil

Managing Director

Lindon Neil is a Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers with over 17 years experience in Securitisation, Structured and Project Finance. 

He has held senior positions in a variety of banks including Wachovia Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland and Credit Suisse. Prior to banking he worked as a director in Structured Finance Ratings at Standard & Poor’s. Lindon has been involved in originating, structuring and executing a broad range of structured finance transactions across Europe and the US.

Lindon is a co-founder of Balbourne Capital Partners, established in 2009.

Manuel Sánchez de Lamadrid

Managing Director

Manuel joined Altium in 2005 after 13 years with Alpha Corporate (the Spanish corporate finance division of Deloitte, previously Arthur Andersen). 

He has been involved in a number of M&A transactions, divestments and LBOs across different industries including media and entertainment, food and beverage, and business services.

Manuel holds a degree with Honours in Business Administration from Centro Europeo de Gestión de Empresas (Madrid) and Humberside University.

Marcus Newby

UK Chairman

Marcus joined Altium in 1990 as a member of our senior management team. 

Marcus qualified as a solicitor with Slaughter and May. He worked for both Morgan Grenfell and Drexel Burnham Lambert in London and New York during the mid 1980s focusing on leveraged acquisitions and international capital market and high yield financings.

Having spent much of his Altium career focusing on deal generation and execution, his current primary roles are to chair Altium’s UK operations and to oversee the development of the firm’s expansion into new markets and business streams.

Marcus is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.

Martin Kúhner

Managing Director

Martin joined the Altium Group in 1986 and has acquired extensive expertise through working on many corporate finance and cross-border M&A transactions. During this time he has covered a lot of industries, like retail and consumer goods, media, manufacturing and life sciences. 

Martin holds both a master's degree in Business Administration and a Ph.D. with High Distinction from the University of St. Gallen.

Michael Hinderer

Group Chairman

Michael is well acquainted with the corporate finance needs of medium-sized businesses in German-speaking countries. 

Prior to co-founding CFP Corporate Finance Partners AG, the forerunner of Altium AG and Apax AG in 1986, he was an executive of a German investment bank where he specialised in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.

Michael holds a master's degree in Business Administration, Economics and Social Sciences from the University of St. Gallen, plus a Ph.D. with Distinction in Business Administration from the Leopold-Franzens University in Innsbruck.

Michael is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and holds various non-executive directorships in third party companies.

Noël Forgeard

Senior Partner

Noël joined Arjil-Group Altium in January 2011 as a Senior Partner and member of Arjil’s Executive Committee.

He started his career within several Ministries including those of Joël le Teule and Robert Galley (Defence) and with Jacques Chirac, Prime Minister (1986-1987), as a Counsellor for Industrial Affairs.

Noël moved into Industry, first at Usinor and Matra, then at Airbus where he served as President from April 1998 to 2005 before becoming Co-CEO of EADS from June 2005 to July 2006.

Paul Lines

Director

Paul has built up over 10 years experience in corporate finance, and now specialises in advising companies and private equity firms on PLC transactions and mergers and acquisitions, particularly takeovers and IPOs.  

He has a wide variety of transactional experience on over 40 deals, including both public and private companies in the support services, technology, leisure and recruitment sectors.

Paul holds the Securities and Investment Institute Diploma and is a member of the Securities Institute. He has also been awarded the CF Qualification by the ICAEW.

Phil Adams

Group Chief Executive

Phil specialises in public company transactions. He brings a wealth of experience from advising on over fifty transactions including IPOs, hostile and recommended takeovers, placings plus general mergers and acquisitions. 

He advises a wide range of companies and is experienced across sectors including leisure, support services, financial services and building materials. 

Phil qualified as a chartered accountant in 1995, joining us in 1996 and running our Manchester office between 2002 and 2007.

Phil became UK Chief Executive in 2007 before taking the position of Group Chief Executive in October 2010 and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.

Philipp Reiber

Director

Philipp has extensive transaction experience, which he has previously focused in particular on infrastructure and utilities. 

Prior to joining Altium Capital in 2007, he spent nine years at Rothschild GmbH in Frankfurt. His experience also includes work for DG Corporate Finance and Roland Berger & Partner.

Philipp holds a master's degree in Business Administration from the Steven M. Ross School of Business in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a Magister Artium from the University of Hamburg.

Philippe Doré

Director

 

Philippe joined Arjil Group Altium in April 2011 as a Director.

He has spent his career since graduating in 1989 at Group Credit Agricole where he was Deputy Head of International Retail Banking and Private Equity from 2004 to 2005. Between 2005 and 2008 Philippe held a number of positions: Head of Strategy, Head of Mergers and Acquisitions and Head of International Retail Banking. From 2008 to October 2010, he was Head of International Development, reporting to the Vice CEO of Credit Agricole SA.

Pierre Moullade

Director

Pierre began his career as an engineer at Air Liquide, after which he joined the Treasury Department in the Ministry of Finance, where he was in charge of large infrastructure projects, followed by multilateral development assistance.

He joined Banque Worms in 1994 as executive director in charge of M&A and financial operations, and subsequently joined Arjil in 2000. Fluent in English and German, Pierre is also an expert in industrial experiences and valuation analysis. 

Pierre is an alumnus of the École Polytechnique, École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and Collège des Ingénieurs.

Rafael Vilaplana

Managing Director

Rafael started his professional career in 1975 with Valencia de Cementos, S.A., where he became a corporate development manager for the international businesses.

In 1985 he co-founded Cos Iberia, a consulting company specialising in helping companies with the design and implementation of their international diversification strategies. 1989 saw Rafael become managing partner at Ernst & Young Corporate Finance in Spain. From this position he executed large number of cross-border transactions in diverse areas as financial institutions (banking & insurance), food, transport, packaging, chemicals, cement and construction materials among others. Rafael joined Altium in 1997.

Rafael holds a degree in Economics and Industrial Engineering from Valencia University.

Sam Fuller

Managing Director

Sam joined Altium as a graduate in early 2000 and has worked on a significant number of public and private transactions.

Simon Lord

Managing Director

Simon qualified as an ACA in 1997 and is an experienced corporate financier having successfully sold many businesses to plc’s and private equity. 

As a member of Altium’s strategic European board, he brings over a decade’s experience of leading M&A transactions and in a variety of sectors including energy and renewables, support services, retail and capital goods.

Simon has significant private equity experience and has acted for both buyer and seller on behalf of financial institutions and owner managers.

Simon is a member of the firm's Executive Committee.

Stephen Georgiadis

Managing Director

Stephen has successfully completed a wide range of UK and cross-border merger and acquisition assignments and equity and debt financings on behalf of public and private companies.. 

He joined the corporate finance division of Hill Samuel & Co. in 1983 before moving to Apax Partners & Co. Corporate Finance in 1985.He was appointed as a director in 1990 and as a Managing Director in 1999.

Stephen was one of the senior management team who effected an MBO of the firm in 1999 under the new name of Altium.

Stephen is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.

Stuart Lees

Managing Director

Stuart trained as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen and was promoted to Partner in 1989. 

From 1997 he was Head of UK Corporate Finance and a member of Arthur Andersen’s European Board.Stuart has led many M&A transactions from both public and private companies across a variety of sectors.

He joined Altium in the Manchester Office in December 2010. 

Stuart also has a number of other commercial interests and is Chairman of Everest Limited, IESA Limited, The Authentic Food Company and Independent Inspections Limited.

Suki Atwal

Managing Director

Suki Atwal is a qualified chartered management accountant with over 11 years’ experience in Project, Infrastructure and Energy finance. He has spent most of the last decade originating, structuring and syndicating a variety of complex structured finance transactions across Europe, Middle East and the US. 

Suki has held senior positions in a variety of banks including Wachovia Bank, Lloyds TSB,  Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and NatWest. Since it was established in 2009, he is a co-founder of Balbourne Capital Partners.

Thierry de Sépibus

Prior to joining Altium Capital in 2001, Thierry worked as a Senior Investment Manager at Invision, a private equity firm. 

Before that Thierry held various positions in finance at Swatch-Group, Daimler and Metro-Group.

Thierry holds an M.A. from the University of St. Gallen and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Tim Richardson

Director

Tim joined Altium in June 2002, having previously worked for Credit Lyonnais Securities and Robert W. Baird. 

Throughout his career he has acted as corporate broker and adviser to many listed companies, predominantly small and mid cap stocks, on both the Main Market and AIM. Tim has also worked on a wide range of transactions including IPOs, secondary fund raisings, public takeovers and private sector mergers and acquisitions.

Tim holds a Masters in International Banking and Financial Services.

Wladimir Mollof

Managing Director

Wladimir joined Apax Partners & Cie Finance as Partner in September 1996. 

After 15 years with Dupont de Nemours, Wladimir joined Barings in 1984 to start their European Venture Capital activities and contributed to six fund raisings and realised more than 40 investments.

In 1990, Wladimir left Barings to set up Argos Soditic, in J.V. with Soditic in Geneva raising US$120 million private equity and LBO fund for Europe. A strong M&A focus was developed in co-operation with SG Warburg.

Wladimir has degrees in Sciences from University of Paris, and is fluent in Bulgarian, English, French, Italian and German.
